God really loves you

Psalm 8:1-9

1 O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world! Your praise reaches up to the heavens; 2 it is sung by children and babies.  You are safe and secure from all your enemies; you stop anyone who opposes you. 3 When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places - 4 what are human beings, that you think of them;  mere mortals, that you care for them? 5 Yet you made them inferior only to yourself;  you crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You appointed them rulers over everything you made;  you placed them over all creation: 7 sheep and cattle, and the wild animals too; 8 the birds and the fish and the creatures in the seas. 9 O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world!

When I say...

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!”
I’m whispering, “I get lost!
That’s why I chose this way”

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I don’t speak with human pride
I’m confessing that I stumble -
needing God to be my guide

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong
I’m professing that I’m weak
and pray for strength to carry on

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success
I’m admitting that I’ve failed
and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I don’t think I know it all
I submit to my confusion
asking humbly to be taught

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are far too visible
but God believes I’m worth it

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache
which is why I seek His name

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority
I only know I’m loved

Be still...

For this last week or so, I keep reading these words from the Bible, totally random:  Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

If I'm not seeing it in my Bible, I'm seeing it on Twitter, Facebook, different websites.  I have been anxious lately, troubled by some things and was asking God about it.  We have such an awesome God, He knows just what message to send us, what we need to hear. :)  I will be still and know that He is God.  :)  Praise God!

God bless you, in Jesus' Holy Name.

Your Mom or Dad...

Tell them you love them and appreciate everything they've ever done for you. :)

The meaning of my name, Amanda

Yesterday I was feeling very sad.  This sadness came out of nowhere.  I was reading some things various people were saying about people thinking that they're saved, but they really are not.  That scared me.  Made me wonder if I'm really saved.

So I prayed to God to show me in His Word that I am saved and to remove all doubt I have about it.  I was reading a Christian page on Facebook and the following verses quoted from the Bible caught my eye.

John 10:28-30  28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish , neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one.
Matt 28:20  ...and, lo , I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Col 2:9-10   9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

That was a comfort to me :)  Took away the sadness.  God is so good and loving.  You know, we as Christians should watch what and how we say things to others, you can put doubt in their minds.  Also, sometimes satan puts doubt in your mind, trying to interfere with God's plan for you, trying to get you off-track.  Always pray about something and ask God for His help.  He will answer you! :)

God bless you.

The clock is ticking...

We've been seeing in the news for a while now about birds dropping dead from the sky, coastlines filled with dead fish, dead animals randomly worldwide.  Scary stuff isn't it!  Surely God must be speaking to your heart, telling you these are the signs of the end times.  I just love how on Youtube so many of God's children are posting videos about dreams they had!  Awesome stuff, Jesus is coming!  I just know it, because although I've always been a child of God, I've neglected my bible reading, but lately I have this huge hunger for God's Word, to be near Him, to pray constantly, to read anything I can about Him.  I don't have the love for worldly things anymore.  When we die we can't take it with us!  Don't care to have the fanciest house, biggest car, biggest flat screen TV.

Talking about TV...I've totally lost the desire to watch TV!!  Isn't that amazing?!! :D  God is so awesome.  We must remember, God's Holy Spirit lives inside us, so we must be careful what we feed our souls.  I used to watch Dexter, True Blood, but now...I just KNOW in my heart it's not what God wants me to watch!  What good does it do our souls to be watching such filth...none!  I used to love listening to pop music, but now...the desire to always be listening to that kind of music is totally gone!  I'm loving listening to gospel, hymns, praise and worship music.  It is so awesome when God calls us near to Him.  Heed that call!  He LOVES us, He wants us to have a relationship with Him.  He's a jealous God, he wants all of you.  Praise Jesus, He is so good all the time!

I was reading in Hosea 4:1-19 and it made my jaw drop!  "..and everyone is wasting away.  Even the wild animals, the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea are disappearing."  That part just stood out for me, grabbed my attention.

God bless you, in Jesus' Holy Name.

Why you need to avoid trans fats

All4Women - Why you need to avoid trans fats
You have probably heard that trans fats are harmful to your health, but how much do you really know about what they really do and how you can avoid them?
Trans fat is an unnaturally produced type of fat
It is created when hydrogenated oils and vegetable oils are combined. Trans fat is used in the food industry because it has a higher melting point and longer shelf life.
Because these trans fats are created through an artificial process, the human body is unable to process them.
Consuming food products that contain trans fats can lead to many health problems including coronary heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Check food labels
When doing your shopping, check the labels of everything you buy and avoid anything that is labelled “partially hydrogenated” or which contains hydrogenated oils.
Try to purchase items labelled zero trans fats
You should also avoid prepackaged snacks and foods with an unnaturally long shelf life.
Think about things you make at home like cookies, donuts, or bread. How long would you keep these things before they go bad? Not more than a few days at the most.
So if these same things you buy from the store have a shelf life of weeks or months, then you can be sure that they are full of trans fats and preservatives.
Try to eat fresh foods, and prepare them at home as much as possible
For example, instead of buying a cake mix at the store, it would be better to buy the ingredients separately.
If you often eat outside of the home, it can be harder to completely avoid trans fats. But there are some ways to minimize their intake. When eating out, you can avoid certain foods that are fairly likely to contain high levels of trans fats.
Foods with a high trans fat content
Foods to avoid include deep fried foods like French fries, fried chicken, donuts, and extra toppings like bacon, mayonnaise, or cheese. (At most fast food restaurants the cheese is highly processed.)
If you have to eat out, when you are at work, or on the go, try to choose healthier meal options like fresh salads, steamed vegetables, whole-wheat sandwiches, and soups.
Trans fats are so deadly that certain countries and states have banned manufacturers from using them
Denmark became the first country to do this in 2003. California was the first state in the U.S. to ban trans fats from restaurant food. Other states including New York, Florida, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, have also banned trans fats from restaurants and schools.

Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina

And the winner is...Scotty!!! Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Oh my gosh I am so happy Scotty won American Idol, he was my choice to win, but I would have been happy too, if Lauren won it.  They are both awesome singers and both are beautiful.  They sure would make a cute couple!  But there's lots of time for romance, they are still very young and have their whole lives ahead of them and should concentrate on their singing careers.  Just my humble opinion.  If they were my kids I would be so proud.  Go Scotty & Lauren, you rock! Vote for Table Mountain

Today I want to ask everyone who reads here (I sure hope some people see this!) to vote for our Table Mountain as one of the 7 wonders of the world.
Just look at that view and see the wonder and awesomeness, flat as a table top! :D  I have to add, the top pic I snagged from a site about Cape Town, it does not belong to me, the 2nd pic I got from a Facebook page about Cape Town, but the 3rd pic belongs to me, I took it from Bloubergstrand.

So come on people, please vote for Table Mountain, there are some pretty awesome wonders in the world and Table Mountain definitely deserves to be one of the top 7.

Click here to vote for Table Mountain.  You can also send a SMS (text message) with the word 'Tafel' or 'Table' to 34874.  The SMS only costs R2.  I think the SMS will only work in South Africa, so come on South Africans, start texting!

Election results

I am happy to say the DA kicked ANC butt in the Western Cape and still rule the Western Cape.  They also gained seats in some traditionally black townships like Alexandra, Khatlehong & Pimville near Johannesburg.  Awesome, awesome, awesome for our country.  I love democracy in action, in our beloved South Africa :D  God bless South Africa!

Final results still have to come in.

DA looking forward to metro results

Yay!  I voted today, made my mark, got inked on the thumb.

I can't wait for the results tomorrow!  DA!  DA!  DA! all the way!

I'll be back tomorrow!  See ya!

SA Elections

Tomorrow, 18th of May 2011, is our Election Day.  I can't wait to go make my vote and I am proud to say I vote for the DA (Democratic Alliance) and not the ANC (African National Congress), who use God in their election campaign.  Claiming that if you have a membership card from the ANC, you have a ticket straight to heaven!  I am shocked and appalled.  Yet they don't worry what God thinks about their hate-filled hearts toward the white people and farmers in particular in this country, when they sing their favourite struggle song "Dubul 'ibhunu" (Shoot the Boer).

I do hope all people in this country, no matter their skin colour, will make the right choice and do not vote for the ANC and their empty promises.  People are protesting more and more about terrible service in this country.  The ANC promises more job creation.  Yeah right, poverty is rife in this country, but the pockets of politicians are bulging and it's party upon party, the most expensive cars, the poor people they are forgotten, no wonder they are getting fed up and protesting.

Just compare the Western Cape to the rest of the country and you'll see how ruling a province or country for that matter, is done.  The Western Cape is currently ruled by the DA, not the ANC.  God forbid they take over the Western Cape, we don't need things messed up here and we certainly don't need their racism.  All the politicians can do is talk about skin colour.  Get over yourselves already, the average Joe does not care about skin colour, he just wants a job and to feed his family, not lose his job because of his skin colour or be over-looked when it comes to promotion, because of his skin colour.

My husband is stuck where he's at and can forget about a promotion.  Black people and women come first, then the coloured (brown) and last in the row, the white man.  Will this go on forever?  It certainly seems like it at the moment.  Will the hate because of what was done during Apartheid continue forever?  If we leave it to the politicians, you bet your bottom dollar it will.  Apartheid gets dug up out of its grave at regular intervals, especially come election time!

Thank God most people in this country do not hate (I do believe that with my whole heart), only the minority racists and politicians, but you get them all over the world.  Also, we don't need people like Julius Malema inciting hatred with the struggle song.  We also don't need people like Steve Hofmeyr, writing racist songs to spite the Malemas of this world.  That is not doing anyone any good because hate makes you bitter and that is not good for your soul.

Spread the love people, that's what Jesus wants, love thy neighbour as you love yourself :D ♥ Oh one more thing, check your ballot paper has a stamp on the back, otherwise your vote will be null & void.  We don't what that!  Every vote counts.  Happy voting!

Loved ones

My sweet cat died in August 2009. I don't think I'll be getting another cat again. My cat was traumatised by someone in the area, so I don't want that being done to another cat as well.

People can be so cruel. It breaks my heart. In the end I think he died from a heart attack. He was lying there as if he was sleeping.
I will never forget him.

Then on the 24th of February 2010 my Dad died. What a sad sad time that was. I was ill as well at that time, ended up in hospital, recovered and not long after that my Mom ended up in hospital, thank God she recovered. The year 2010 was my annus horribilis.
I miss my Dad so very much. If you still have your parents in your life, treasure them and treat them with respect and tell them you love them everyday!  We'll meet again in Heaven one day Dad! ♥
So far things are okay, may this year only get better.
